BUILDER SUPPORT INFO & MAILING LISTS/FORUMS

Here is my collection of links to mailing lists and other RV builder support sites.   Be sure to also check my Other RV Builders page for more builders' resources and info listed there.  See also the Resources page at Van's for lots of builder's sites and other good links.   For info my experiences with, and ratings of, various vendors, see my vendors page.

Van's Air Force - for all Van's models.  Modern software format; no more Yucky Yahoo.  This has become the BIG list where everyone goes. It's moderated, some say a bit heavily.   Run by Doug Reeves.  For more resources on this site, see the home.

Matronics RV list home page - Matt Dralle has LOTS of lists, including separate lists for all RVs and for each RV model, as well as many other makes of aircraft.  He also has a couple non-aircraft lists, such as Corvette and a couple others.  This is also the home of the famous AeroElectric list.  This site also has a good archive search engine.  This is another BIG list, with lots of subscribers.  Here is the weekly RV list by thread.  And HERE is the RV list in an online bulletin board format (as opposed to the emails from the list server)

RV Builder's Hotline - Bob Collins' web site and weekly newsletter with lots of RV building tips - see also his "tips for tyros" page.  He also has the RVator Index on his site.

Boston RV Builders Group - as the name says.  A Yahoo Group

Rivet Bangers - another RV list using modern web forum software.  See the home for more resources.

HomeBuiltAirplanes - covering ALL types of homebuilt planes

Eggenfellner Aircraft - for & about Eggenfellner Aircraft Subaru engines.  A Yahoo Group.  Don't criticize Eggenfellner or his products or ask tough questions, else you'll be kicked off

Eggenfellner Aircraft STi owners - home for Eggenfellner Aircraft STi owners to freely discuss and resolve engine problems that the factory won't help with, without dealing with Jan Eggenfeller & his quirks.  A Yahoo Group.

Eggenfellner Aircraft H6 owners - home for Eggenfellner Aircraft H6 owners to freely discuss and resolve engine problems  that the factory won't help with, without dealing with Jan Eggenfeller & his quirks.  A Yahoo Group.

Blue Mountain Avionics - for & about BMA EFIS - not a Yahoo group

GRT_EFIS - about Grand Rapids Technologies EFIS and EIS systems.  A Yahoo Group, not run by GRT

Dynon - Dynon's support group

PILOTFRIEND - this is a site I found.  It isn't a builder's site, but it is a resource of all sorts of good info, links, data for builders and pilots.

RV Forums - now it's just the archived messages from the old Van's Air Force list

RV7 or RV7A Group - unmoderated - very little activity any more.  See Van's Air Force above

RV7A Group - another Yahoo group for RV builders

RV Squadron - for RV builders in the UK

RV Quick Build - a Yahoo group for Quick Build kit customers

Airsoob list - another generic Subaru engine Yahoo group.  Not much traffic

Flysoob list - another generic Subaru engine Yahoo group.  Not much traffic

E-Subie Forum - yet another generic Subaru engine Yahoo group, moderated, focusing on discussing specific things about NSI, Crossflow, Eggenfellner, and other aircraft Subaru topics.  Not much traffic

Innodyn Turbine - about the Innodyn (formerly ATP) turbine engine.  Unfortunately, like the engine itself, this Yahoo list is pretty much defunct.  Also, see my engine page for more details on Innodyn, NSI, Crossflow, Eggenfellner engines

Mike Stewart - all sorts of other good info to download; just about ALL Garmin manuals, POH, flight test procedures, IFR tests, inspection checklist, formation flying info, etc

The bible for aircraft building is FAA AC 43.13, available in print from various vendors like Avery and ACS (Aircraft Spruce), and available as a series of PDF files from the FAA.  Be sure to also get the March 3, 2008 AC 43.13-2B update HERE.

The bible for electrical work is Bob Nuckolls' "Aeroelectric Connection" book, available directly from Bob's web site, or from various vendors, such as SteinAir.  Greg Richter, of Blue Mountain Avionics, wrote "Aircraft Wiring For Smart People", available as a free download from the BMA site.
